FAQs

Do I have to register an account? You only need to register an account with us if you want to purchase a downloadable product. This is because we can only track downloads by registered customers. Otherwise, you do not need to register an account with us in order to shop with us. However, you might find it more convenient to register an account as you can then enjoy the benefits and facilities available to our registered customers.

What are the benefits of registering an account? When you register an account with us we securely store your invoice and delivery address(es) so you never need to enter them again for any future purchases. You can easily update your account details with any changes, and you can request a lost password to be sent to your registered email address. Please note that we do NOT store any financial information. You will also be able to save your shopping cart, track current and previous orders, and enjoy other features designed to make your visit to Dante's Books easier and more enjoyable.

How will my goods be delivered? Wherever practical we use Royal Mail for both UK and international deliveries although we reserve the right to use an alternative carrier where necessary and appropriate.

Do you deliver items outside the United Kingdom?Sorry, but at the moment we don't offer international delivery. Currently we only ship to UK and BFPO addresses. We apologise to any would-be international customers and we hope to provide an economically sensible international shipping option in the not too distant future. 

Do you deliver to BFPO addresses? Yes.

Are there any areas where you do not deliver? We do not currently deliver to non-UK/BFPO addresses. We also reserve the right not to deliver orders if we have any doubts about the security of the delivery address. This may affect certain communal postal addresses or PO Boxes. If this restriction affects your order, then we will notify you as soon as possible.

My order has shipped but has not arrived? It is our experience that most packages arrive at their destination within the times quoted at the time of order confirmation. Please contact us if your order has not arrived within 5 days of the times quoted. Before contacting us, we do ask that you contact your local sorting office to ensure that they are not holding an undelivered package for you.

Can I return unwanted or faulty items? Yes. You can return any item for any reason, by simply returning it to us postmarked within 10 working days of receipt.

Are there any items that cannot be returned? Occasionally we might issue (by email) a free gift voucher that can be used as full or part purchase of one of our books. These have no refund, re-sale or returns value.

Does your returns policy adhere to the UK’s Distance Selling Regulations? We actually exceed the requirements by giving you up to 10 working days to return an item and by extending this guarantee to all customers including those outside the UK or EU. What about any return postage costs? We will refund any return postage cost for returned items that are delivered in error or are damaged or are materially different from their description on this website. See our Refunds and Returns Policy for full details.

What refund will I get? Any refund will always include the full cost you paid including any postage and handling costs for shipment from us to you. If you are returning items that were delivered in error or are damaged or are materially different from their description on this website, we will also refund the cost of the return postage to us.

When will I get my refund? If no returns are involved then we will issue any refund within 3 working days of order cancellation. If you are returning an item then refund will be made within three working days of our receipt of the returned item.

How will my refund be paid? We will normally refund any monies by the same method by which the original payment was made. Thus, PayPal payments will be refunded by PayPal, etcetera. The one exception is where we received the original payment in cash when we will issue a cheque or PayPal payment for any refund due as we do not send cash under any circumstances. All refunds will be made in UK pounds sterling.

What payment options do you offer? We accept credit and debit cards (Visa and MasterCard). You can also make secure on-line payments by Paypal. We can also accept BACS payments, cheques drawn on a UK bank and any gift or discount certificates issued by us. We will accept cash payments in UK pounds sterling or Euros, but we do not recommend that you pay by cash as we will not be responsible for any cash payment that fails to reach usYou may use any combination of these options to pay for your order.

What payment options do you not accept? We do not accept international money orders, cheques drawn on foreign (non-UK) banks or cash in any currency other than UK pounds sterling or Euros. Any such payments that we receive will be cancelled, returned or destroyed (as appropriate) and the order will be cancelled.

What about VAT? We are not currently VAT-registered merchants and do not add any element of VAT to our prices. Any change to this position will be posted here. However, please note that books are not currently subject to VAT.

When is an order placed and accepted? You place the order for your items by confirming the order at the end of the checkout process. We will send you by email an order acknowledgement detailing the items you have ordered. This is simply an acknowledgement and is neither an order confirmation nor order acceptance from us. Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between us takes place when your order is despatched at which time we will send you a despatch confirmation email.

Can you refuse to accept an order? Yes. In very rare circumstances where we suspect that the purchaser is not complying, or cannot comply, or does not intend to comply with our general terms and conditions we will refuse to accept the order, will advise the purchaser accordingly and will refund any payments made in full. We also reserve the right not to accept an order if we have any doubts about the security or validity of the delivery address.

Can you cancel an order? Yes. We reserve the right to cancel an order if the item ordered is unavailable from stock or if we have not received cleared payment for the goods ordered or if we have identified an error in the advertised pricing or description of the item ordered.

Can I cancel an order? Yes. The purchaser is entitled to cancel an order for goods for any reason and receive a full refund for any payment made at any time up to the end of the tenth working day after receipt of goods always provided that the goods have not been removed from the sealed package in which they were delivered. Can I change an order? We are sorry but, in most circumstances, it is not possible to make changes to your order once you have placed it. If you would like to add products to your order, please place a new order for these items. If you need to change details of your delivery address, remove items from your order or cancel it completely, please contact us as soon as possible quoting your order number and order date. If your order has already been despatched then you will need to follow our Returns procedure in the event of any unwanted items.

Why do you list items that are out of stock?  This should only happen in very rare circumstances. This site and our stock is updated on a regular basis but it is possible that in some instances an item may become unavailable between updates. If we are unable to deliver any item, we will notify you by email and will refund any payments made in full.
